Warzone 2 Season 2 changes teased including new gulag, loadouts and looting

Warzone 2 players will have to wait a bit longer for Season 2, but it should be worth the wait if Activision delivers on its recent promises.

Activision announced earlier this week that Warzone 2 Season 2 will launch two weeks later than expected, on Wednesday, February 15, confirming the recent rumours about a possible two-week delay for the new content update. The word 'delayed' wasn't actually used in the announcement, but it's clear from the tone of the language used that the update will arrive later than was first planned. They're not fooling anyone.

Shortly after the announcement, Call of Duty devs Infinity Ward teased that 'exciting changes' will be coming to Warzone 2 for Season 2, via their Twitter account.

We can look forward to changes to the gulag, the looting system and loadouts for Season 2, all of which have been criticised by professional Call of Duty players, content creators and casual players alike.

The game studio, not content with the teasing it had already done, followed up with another mouthwatering tweet, seemingly confirming that the 1v1 gulag would return for Warzone 2.

The gulag is a popular gameplay feature that gives eliminated players a chance to return to the match, by winning a shootout against another player, or players. The 1v1 gulag featured in the original Call of Duty: Warzone, but it was changed to a 2v2 battle for Warzone 2, with the added addition of a powerful AI combatant called the Jailer.

But the change has not been received positively by the community, to put it mildly. Especially with the added introduction of AI soldiers and Strongholds for Warzone 2. Just stop with this AI nonsense Activision, no one wants to fight bots – particularly in a battle royale game!

The new looting system for Warzone 2 has also been widely criticised, as it's far more clunky and complicated than in Warzone 1. It's obviously been built with the new DMZ mode in mind, rather than the core battle royale experience. Linked to this issue is the fact that a three-plate vest is something players have to proactively find, in order to equip the full three armour plates. This vest gives a huge advantage over players who can only equip two plates and adds another layer of unneeded unpredictability.

And then there are loadouts, which Activision said wouldn't be in Warzone 2 initially, but were eventually re-introduced ready for launch after players complained. The much-loved public loadout drops were also re-introduced for Season 1 Reloaded. It'll be interesting to see how loadouts are changed for Season 2, but it would help if they were cheaper to purchase at buy stations, for a start!

But one question that hasn't been answered yet is will players finally be able to check their player stats and K/D following the launch of Season 2, after the addition of this pretty basic feature was delayed a few weeks ago? We can only hope!
