Warriors are now 23-0 when Draymond Green records a triple-double

If Draymond Green wants to help the Warriors win, it seems that all he needs to do is record a triple-double. It’s no stretch to say that his team is unbeatable when he does so.

Indeed, it’s been a little while since the Golden State was on the right end of a decision, and after taking his teammates to task, Green decided to take things into his own hands. Just one day after getting blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Green came to play and valiantly led the Dubs to their first win of the season over the New Orleans Pelicans, turning in a 16-point, 17-rebound, 10-assist triple-double.

It was the 23rd regular season triple-double of Green’s career. Incredibly, the team is 23-0 when he’s recorded one.

As it turns out, on Monday, the Warriors ended up securing a 134-123 victory over Brandon Ingram and company, and with each team entering the contest looking for their first win on the season, Green played with the desperation of a leader looking to push his team in the right direction.

For the Warriors, though, Stephen Curry scored a team-high 26 points and added 11 assists, while D’Angelo Russell scored 24 points and added seven rebounds and eight assists, as well. So he had plenty of help.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 1-2 on the season and will next play host to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night when they return to Chase Center.

All things considered, Green’s performance was well-timed. He took his teammates to task on Sunday after they put forth a pitiful effort against the rebuilding Thunder and found themselves trailing by more than 40 points in the contest. The good thing about the NBA, though, is that you always have an opportunity for redemption, and the Warriors took advantage of that fact on Monday.

Now, they’ll head back to San Francisco with their sights set on continuing to build some positive momentum.
