Warning after man knocked on doors asking to borrow money for electric or gas

Detectives have issued an image of a man in connection with a number of thefts across Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to a number of incidents between December 27 and December 30 in Lenton, Stapleford, Radford and Basford.

In all instances a man knocked on the door and has asked to borrow money, mainly saying it is for electric or gas.

Police Constable Tim Townsend is leading the investigation.

He said: "We are keen to speak to the man pictured in connection with the incidents.

"Some of the victims who have been targeted have been elderly and vulnerable.

"No threats were made towards them but these incidents have caused great distress.

"It was reported a man has knocked on their door and asked for money to pay for his electric metre. He has then told victims that his wife would come round later that afternoon to repay them.

"We're working hard to identify and trace the culprit and I'm urging anyone who recognises the man to please get in contact with us by calling 101 quoting incident number 265 of 30 December 2020."
