Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 trailer unleashes the Sisters of Battle alongside brutal retro FPS carnage

On October 23, 2025, Games Workshop began feed-dripping news for Warhammer 40,000 media from games to tabletop miniatures in the lead-up to Warhammer Day on October 25, 2025.

One of the biggest pieces of news to come out so far is a brand new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, a first-person shooter inspired by classic shooters of the 1990s like Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem, and the original DOOM, to name a few.

The trailer showcases a montage of its gloriously violent gunplay as the Space Marine, Malum Caedo, mows down the vile forces of Chaos with his Bolter rifle.

However, the trailer then quickly reveals Malum Caedo won't be the only servant of the Imperium you'll play as this time, as Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 shows that you will also get to play as Nyra Veyrath, one of the popular (and rightfully feared) Sisters of Battle (a.k.a. the Adeptus Sororitas).

For those unaware, the Sisters of Battle are an all-female militant fighting force of the Ecclesiarchy, the Imperium of Man's state church that maintains (and oftentimes, enforces) religious belief in the God Emperor.

Unlike Space Marines, who are genetically engineered super soldiers, the Sisters of Battle are ordinary humans who have undergone extreme combat training and religious indoctrination.

They are quick to anger, will decry anyone and anything as heretical at even the slightest provocation or suspicion, and their undying faith in the God Emperor is so strong that it can help them survive battling the Ruinous Powers of Chaos and ward off being corrupted by them.

This Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 gameplay trailer gives us a glimpse into a Sister of Battle's fighting prowess as it shows Nyra Veyrath dashing and sliding across the battlefield, purging cultists and Daemons with a Sister of Battle's favorite weapons of choice: The Bolter, the Flamer, and the Melta (with a Power Sword as a side weapon).

The original Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is one of my favorite Warhammer 40,000 action games.

I gave the game a 4/5 review score for its old-school 1990s graphical aesthetics, large variety of challenging Chaos enemies to kill, and deliciously gory gameplay that was so fast-paced it makes even Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 look slow by comparison.

So, it makes me happy to see that the sequel is continuing to refine what I love about the first game while adding a Sister of Battle as a playable character, who looks equally as fun to play as Malum Caedo, with her agile mobility and arsenal of Force Swords, bolters, flamers, and Melta bombs.

I can't wait to play as Nyra Veyrath and burn the enemies of the Imperium to cinders when Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 launches sometime in 2026, which is available to wishlist right now at the Steam Store.
