Wanted fugitive Dominic McDonald arrested after almost a month on the run

A wanted fugitive who was on the run for almost a month has been put back behind bars.

Dominic McDonald has been returned to prison after being tracked down on Sunday evening.

The 19-year-old had been wanted by officers on a prison recall after breaching the terms of his licence.

He was also wanted in relation to a burglary and an affray but had been avoiding police since the end of January.

But on Sunday evening McDonald, who has links to Newcastle and Blyth, was back in custody.

As he was on a prison recall, the teenager is now back behind bars while enquiries continue into the burglary and affray offences.

Detective Sergeant Ash Loader, of Northumbria Police, said: “Dominic McDonald has known he is wanted but has been avoiding police for some time.

“He has breached the terms of his licence but we also wanted to speak to him in relation to some serious offences across the region.

“We want to thank everyone who contacted us with information about his whereabouts and we are delighted he is now behind bars.”
