Plans for a new health centre in Wallsend are set to be given the go-ahead on Tuesday.
Council planning officers have recommended approval for Assura Aspire Ltd's plans to build the new facility on a plot of land south of Elton Street.
If approved the centre will include a GP surgery and a "community health support hub".
A design and access statement submitted to the council says the new centre is needed to replace two existing surgeries that are "beyond capacity".
It said: "The building will be split between two different use groups - a GP surgery and a community health support hub.
"The GP surgery will replace two existing surgeries - Portugal Place and Park Road Surgeries. The premises for both of these surgeries are now beyond capacity, with no possibility to expand within their current buildings. Therefore a new premises is required."
The new centre will include a total of 40 consulting rooms shared between the community health hub and GP practice along with four treatment rooms.
It will also feature a shared waiting room, subdivided for different areas of the building, and 31 parking spaces - including four disabled spaces.
The document added: "The wide range of services that will be offered in the centre will be beneficial to the local and wider community."
A report set to be heard by councillors backed the scheme saying it would bring "substantial growth" to the area.
It said: "The development would bring substantial benefits including securing economic growth within a sustainable location, improving services within Wallsend town centre and providing much needed medical facilities, which will be of significant benefit to local residents.
"The proposed medical centre would provide a complimentary offer to the existing shopping centre and opportunities to increase the vitality of the centre through greater linked trips and footfall. It is therefore officer opinion the proposal is acceptable in principle."
North Tyneside Council's planning committee is set to vote on the proposals on Tuesday.
