Wall’s return not enough to slow down Curry, Warriors in 125-109 loss

Following Houston’s 126-109 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, the Rockets headed up the California coast to take on the Golden State Warriors, who have been dealing with struggles of their own.

Though the Rockets saw John Wall return to the lineup after missing Friday’s game due to injury management, Steph Curry and the Warriors were too much to handle as Houston fell to Golden State, 125-109 (box score). The loss was Houston’s ninth in its last 11 games.

John Wall led the way for the Rockets in his return to the lineup, scoring 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting, including 5-of-7 from downtown, and dishing out 7 assists.

Christian Wood and Kelly Olynyk finished with 18 points. Veteran guard and newly acquired Rocket D.J. Augustin added 19 points and 6 assists in 22 minutes off the bench.

But two-time MVP Steph Curry did what he tends to always do to the Rockets: Light them up. Curry finished with 38 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists on 13-of-21 from the field, including 8-of-15 from 3-point land.

Andrew Wiggins added 25 points and Jordan Poole scored an efficient 21 points off the bench on 8-of-11 shooting.

The Rockets will be back in action on Monday in Phoenix as they take on the Suns.
