Walkers recall new mince pie flavour crisps over allergy fears

Crisp company Walkers has had one of its new festive flavours recalled over allergy fears.

Supermarkets like Tesco have been removing multipacks of the brand's mince pie flavour snack because of concerns they contain traces of milk which aren't mentioned on the label.

That means the product - part of a limited edition seasonal range which also includes Smoked Pigs in Blankets and Roast Potato - poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

As a result the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a call to shoppers who may have picked up a pack to return them to their point of purchase.

"This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, " said a risk statement from the FSA, adding that Walkers' parent company PepsiCo is recalling the line and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations about the move.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers explaining to customers why the product is being recalled and to tell them what to do if they have bought any.”

It added: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it."

Customers who bought the crisps should call the Consumer Care Line on 0800 274777 to receive a full refund.
