Wales fans' anger as supporters refused entry to crucial Croatia qualifier

Wales fans have been refused entry into Stadion Gradski for the Euro 2020 qualifier with Croatia due to ID troubles.

UEFA and the Croatian FA stated prior to the game that supporters would need to carry official documentation with them to gain access into the Osijek venue.

Wales sold out their allocation of 1,100 tickets for the huge Group E encounter with the 2018 World Cup finalists.

But prominent Welsh fan groups have stated that some supporters were turned away from the ground due to having photocopies of their documents rather than the original.

And it has also been claimed that some fans were turned away if the name on their tickets did not match that on their documentation, while other accounts claimed fans were rejected for only being able to provide a photocopy of their passport.

The checks on the turnstiles led to significant queues outside the away end, with pictures emerging on social media of "several hundred" fans waiting to get in around half an hour before kick-off.

Members of the Red Wall have been located in the north tribune of the 18,000-seater stadium.

Ryan Giggs' side are looking for their first win over Croatia, although Zlatko Dalic's troops have never lost in their 11 outings in Osijek.
