Britain's royal family does: In a ceremony Tuesday at Buckingham Palace in London, veteran rocker Rod Stewart was awarded that title by Prince William in recognition of Stewart's "services to music and charity," as described in an official tweet.
According to the Associated Press, Stewart, 71, wore tartan trousers and a "scarlet-trimmed military-style tunic" to the event, where he was accompanied by his wife, Penny Lancaster, and his young sons Alastair and Aiden.
The singer, who may now call himself Sir Roderick, joins rock stars such as Elton John and Mick Jagger in knighthood. On Twitter, Stewart called the distinction "a truly monumental honour."
Stewart's hits include "Maggie May," "Rhythm of My Heart" and "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" His most recent studio album, "Another Country," was released in 2015. He'll launch a European tour in November before returning next year to his regular gig at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
