Waitrose issues urgent recall over a cheese that may contain Listeria

A food supplier is recalling a range of goat's cheese, which is sold at deli counters in Waitrose.

The Bettine Blanc Goat's Cheese is pulled from counters because it may contain Listeria.

It has been sold in the supermarker's delis from September 4 to October 29.

Symptoms caused by Listeria can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned customers about Bettine Blanc Goat's Cheese produced by manufacturers Bettinehoeve, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Shoppers are being urged not to eat the cheese and return it to the place of sale.

The company is now recalling the product and point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the product.

The FSA advise anyone who has bought the goat's cheese not to eat it.

Instead, they should return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
