The by-election was triggered after Farage resigned as an MP, alleging he had been the victim of an "establishment stitch-up" over scrutiny surrounding his political funding.
Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats and the Greens have all declined to field candidates, dismissing the contest as a "political stunt" or "fake" election.
The boycott has left Count Binface, the satirical candidate created by comedian Jonathan David Harvey, as the highest-profile challenger to Farage, alongside a handful of independent and fringe candidates.
Capitalising on the unusual race, Count Binface posted on X: "I will be a unity candidate," while also jokingly promising to build "at least one affordable house." In another post, he shared a Batman-style signal with the caption, "On my way, Clacton."
The situation quickly inspired a wave of memes, with many social media users portraying Binface as the unlikely rallying point for anti-Farage voters.
