Voice of the Mirror: 'Enough air bridge quarantine dithering - Brits need certainty on holidays'

The summer holidays will soon be upon us.

Yet millions of families may not be able to take a break abroad unless the Government gets its act together.

Ministers have been promising new travel advice, but this appears to have become permanently stuck in the departure lounge.

We were told there would be air bridges with tourist destinations so holidaymakers could avoid having to quarantine on their return.

This appears to have been abandoned and replaced with a new system that would allow travel to up to 75 countries.

But there is no clarity on when these measures will come into force or which nations will be involved.

This week, Boris Johnson accused Labour leader Keir Starmer of dithering.

The PM needs to look in the mirror. His handling of Covid has been characterised from the beginning by U-turns, confusion and indecision.

People want confidence so they can book their summer holidays. The tourism and aviation industries are desperate for clarity.

It’s time for the Government to stop flying around in circles.

Do right thing

Prince Andrew said he would cooperate with US authorities investigating the crimes of former friend Jeffrey Epstein.

When attorneys tried to take him up on this offer, they claimed the door was shut in their face. Yesterday, they repeated the request for the duke to assist them in the wake of the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell.

For the sake of Epstein’s victims and the reputation of the Royal Family, Prince Andrew should do everything he can to help.

End the trolls

Katie Price yesterday detailed the horrific trolling of her teenage son Harvey.

She is campaigning for a law that would make such online abuse a criminal offence.

And it’s not just the trolls who should be targeted. We need social media firms to police their sites and stop the hatred, bigotry and abuse from being published in the first place.
