Visakhapatnam:2 arrested for taking bribe

Visakhapatnam: A junior assistant of state Goods and Service Tax department was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of 8,000 from a trader at Palasa region in Srikakulam district. B Lakshmi Pathi demanded kickback from a trader V Suresh Kumar for refunding the extra tax which he had paid earlier. The junior assistant was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials. In another incident, the ACB officials nabbed M Appa Rao, village revenue assistant in Doperla village in Atchutapuram mandal. He was arrested when Rao, along with village revenue officer U Aribabu, demanded and accepted a bribe of 50,000 from a farmer, M Durga Prasad, for mutation of land to his name. Aribabu managed to flee the spot. The ACB officials have registered a case.
