Virgin broadband is down for thousands of customers across the UK on Wednesday morning.

Thousands of people reported problems accessing the internet from the Virgin accounts just before 8am.

Down Detector shows more than 2,000 complaints about Virgin connectivity at 8am across the UK.

An engineer said the problem should be resolved 'within hours'.

Some also reported problems with mobile internet and TV.

There are reports of problems in Plymouth, Exeter and South Devon, London, South Wales and other reports on the south coast, the Midlands the north and Northern Ireland.

Virgin has now confirmed the broadband outage with a spokesperson, telling Express.co.uk: “We’re aware of a fault affecting broadband and TV services for some of our customers in the South West.

"We are working as quickly as possible to restore services and apologise to those affected.”
