Virgil van Dijk makes pre-season declaration after 'excited' Liverpool claim

Virgil van Dijk has teased his return from injury ahead of Liverpool's return for pre-season training later this month.

The Dutchman has been sidelined since suffering an ACL injury in the Merseyside derby last October, and was forced to miss out on Euro 2020 as a result this summer as he continues his rehabilitation.

However, the centre-back is on track to return for the Reds in pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 season.

And in a video posted on the 29-year-old's social media channels, captioned 'Pre-season ready', Van Dijk shared his excitement ahead of his return from injury.

"To think about next season with fans, myself be playing again," he said on the minute-long video, which also showed him running around and kicking a ball out on the grass.

"Hopefully getting success with club and county, you know it's something to be excited about."

Keen to make up for last time, Van Dijk will be hopeful of making his competitive playing return when Liverpool travel to Norwich City on the opening day of the Premier League season on Saturday 14 August.
