The Vintage Car Club of Thailand, in conjunction with the Future Park department store and Zpell, organised the 43rd vintage car show under the theme "Aerodynamically Derived Aesthetics". Exhibits are vintage and classic cars steeped in value.
The theme is explained with the idea of how the flow of winds that hit moving cars affect their acceleration and speed. In the early part of the 20th century, engineers applied the theory of aerodynamics in the design of cars to improve their performance and also boost visual aesthetics thanks to the flowing curves on the vehicles' bodies. These features came to be incorporated in the concept cars of today.
The show is segmented into seven categories according to the Federation Internationale des Vehicules Anciens (FIVA), which is dedicated to promoting the interests of the historic vehicle movement throughout the world.
The seven categories are ancestral vehicles (produced before 1904); post-ancestral vehicles (produced between 1905-1918); vintage vehicles (produced between 1919-1930); pre-WWII vehicles (produced between 1931-1945); post-WWII vehicles (1946-1960); classic vehicles (1961-1970); and contemporary classic vehicles (1971-present).
Also featured are vehicle replicas, modified cars, specially-invented cars, Volkswagen vehicles, American cars, Jaguar-Daimler and Minis. The exhibits are spread across 5,000 square metres of space with the exhibition hall decorated Havana-style in a sweet theme colour highlighted by the Pastel Car. More than 100 vintage and classic cars are on show. The event runs until today at Future Park.
