Vikings rookie Austin Cutting to recruit for Air Force in first 2 years of NFL career

It’s been a busy week for Vikings rookie longsnapper Austin Cutting.

Last week, Cutting received clearance from the Air Force to play in the NFL. Earlier on Monday, he signed his rookie deal with the Vikings.

It appears as if things will continue to stay busy for Cutting.

As he finishes his two-year committment to the Air Force, Cutting will serve as a recruiter.

More from Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, who originally reported the news:

(Cutting’s title) will be first-year recruiting lieutenant. His station will be the Air Force Academy outside Colorado Springs, Colo., but he will be “assigned in Minnesota at the present time.’’ If Cutting doesn’t make the Vikings roster and ends up on another team, he could live at the site of that team.

Cutting will compete with Kevin McDermott for the starting longsnapper job, and is probably the favorite considering the Vikings used a draft pick on him.
