Vikings pass rush listed as the team’s kryptonite

Minnesota was a hard team to watch for the first few games.

There was a familiar theme that seemed to happen: the team would not be able to generate pressure, quarterbacks would have a long time to throw, and the opposing team would eventually find its wide receivers for big plays.

Bleacher Report thinks the Vikings’ pass rush is the team’s biggest kryptonite.  Minnesota has been better about getting pressure in the past three games, all of which are wins. But still, the unit seems to be missing Danielle Hunter quite a bit.

“Only three active Minnesota defenders have more than one sack all season. They’ve found ways to get less conventional pressure with Eric Wilson, Shamar Stephen and Harrison Smith coming from spots other than the edge, but they’ll eventually need more from a relatively unknown group of defensive ends.”

If Minnesota keeps getting decent games from defensive end D. J. Wonnum and defensive tackle Hercules Mata’afa, the Vikings could have a decent pass rush with no stars.
