Vikings cut C Brett Jones to make way for Josh Doctson

The Vikings needed to cut someone to make room for wide receiver Josh Doctson.

That someone was veteran center Brett Jones.

Jones was the backup center for Garrett Bradbury prior to being cut.

Jones is a fourth-year player who spent last season with the Vikings and the first two seasons of his career with the Giants.

The Vikings traded a seventh-round pick to acquire Jones prior to the 2018 season after it was known that Pat Elflein was going to miss sometime.

Per Spotrac, the Vikings paid a $90,000 penalty to cut Jones who was under contract for $810,000.
