Vikings are now in backup RB market with Latavius Murray signing with Saints

Running back Latavius Murray is set to sign a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, per multiple reports.

Per Adam Schefter, the deal is woth $14.4 million over four years, which is a little rich for the Vikings’ blood, especially after the team signed Anthony Barr.

The Vikings now find themselves in the market for a backup running back behind Dalvin Cook.

Murray spent two seasons in Minnesota, running for 1,470 yards and 14 touchdowns in 32 games.

The Vikings have Mike Boone and Roc Thomas (although he is in some legal trouble) as running backs under contract for next season.

Running backs on the market include players like T.J. Yeldon, Jonathan Stewart and old friend Adrian Peterson.

The draft is also an option for addressing the void that Murray will leave.

With Cook’s inability to stay healthy over the last two seasons, this is a pretty important position to fill for the Vikings, although they don’t have a lot of money to address it.
