Vigil held in Dublin city centre in memory of murdered journalist Lyra McKee

A vigil took was held in Dublin city centre this  evening in memory of tragic murdered journalist Lyra McKee.

Ms McKee, whose funeral will take place tomorrow was killed on Thursday by dissident republicans.

Dozens of Ms McKee’s NUJ colleagues attended the vigil at the Garden of Remembrance and there was music by the Dublin Gay and Lesbian choir Gloria.

A flurry of tributes have been paid to the talented 29 year-old -named by Forbes' magazine as one of its “30 under 30” notable media figures in Europe - since her murder.

Her violent death has caused widespread outrage and it has been condemned by community leaders and political leaders.

There has also been calls by SDLP leader Colum Eastwood for talks to happen between the parties in the North in an effort to restore the Stormont Assembly government.
