Viewers have got a big problem with the return of Britain's Got Talent

Britain's Got Talent is back as fans discover who is through to the semi-finals of the ITV talent contest.

Viewers have been waiting since May to find out who's through to the live rounds of the show, but they found there was a big problem.

As judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams were seen whittling potential winners down from 200 to 40, fans realised the show had been off their screens so long they couldn't remember the acts.

"Forgot who was even on it its been that long," commented one fan on Twitter.

"Nope! Still don’t remember the acts so far!!!" said another.

"I've literally forgotten everyone who was on the show," another tweeted.

And another said: "I’ve literally forgotten every single act."

Others were loving having their weekend fix of BGT again.

"Good to have BGT back," said one.

"I have really missed you BGT welcome back," said another.

This series of Britain's Got Talent had to be halted abruptly when it was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The live shows were suspended due to government guidelines aimed at reducing the spread of infection of the coronavirus, and as a result, the series was split into two parts.

The first half consisted of audition episodes aired between April and May.

The second will see the semi-finalists unveiled, who will join the Golden Buzzer acts, making them one step closer to achieving their dream of being crowned the Britain's Got Talent winner and securing the prize of an incredible £250,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

The semi-finals will take place over five episodes before the final which will take place live in October.

The shows which start on Saturday September 5 at 8pm will be without its main judge Simon Cowell as he continues to recover from a bike accident in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Instead Ashley Banjo will take his place on the panel, 11 years after his dance troupe Diversity won the show.

Some acts will take part remotely via video link whilst others will perform in the TV studio without a live audience.

As there will also be no audience for the pre-recorded show, all acts will be watched by a virtual audience – with their performances live streamed into homes across the UK and the virtual audiences' reactions then beamed into the studio on a giant screen.
