Video under M5 bridge at Avonmouth shows shocking piles of rubbish

Serial fly-tippers have been dumping piles of rubbish under a motorway bridge in Avonmouth, reports suggest.

Bristol City Council is looking into complaints about mounds of rubbish being left under the M5, near the border to Lawrence Weston and Avonmouth.

A video sent to Bristol Live reportedly shows a huge mess under the bridge, including old pieces of wood, garden waste and bricks.

One resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, has claimed people regularly leave rubbish under M5 bridges in the area.

A spokesman for the council has confirmed the local authority is aware of the reports and looking into the matter.

They said: "Our Neighbourhood Enforcement Team is following up footage sent to us to establish the exact location and evidence of fly-tipping.

"Citizens can report suspected cases of fly-tipping via the council website: Flytipping - bristol.gov.uk."
