The star-studded Victoria’s Secret fashion show took place today, and it seems like it was a smash hit – well, at least for some.
After being cancelled in 2018 following years of criticism over its lack of inclusivity, toxic culture, and outdated “angel” fantasy, last year’s comeback was deemed to lack the glitz, glamour, and inclusivity that were promised.
However, this year’s show has seen a turnaround, opening with Jasmine Tookes strutting down the catwalk, marking the first time a pregnant model has opened the VS show.
However, the 2025 show brought the glamour and diversity, right from the moment a pregnant Jasmine Tookes opened the show in a netted one-piece and gold angel wings, marking the first time a pregnant woman has walked the VS runway.

American basketball player Angel Reese and Olympian gymnast Sunisa Lee followed Tookes making history as the first pro-athlete and Olympian to walk in a VS show.

We also saw the return of legendary VS angels, from Bella Hadid to Adriana Lima, and the debut of fan favourites like model Emily Ratajkowski and influencers Quen Blackwell and Gabi Moura.
So did VS finally make the comeback we were promised last year?
Well, it depends who you ask.
Comments under the YouTube livestream were overwhelmingly positive, commending the show and Karol G and Maddison Beer for their musical performances.

However, the responses on TikTok are a bit more mixed, with many criticising the show for its inclusion of different sizes, influencers and athletes. Some users also criticised the show for lacking the glamour of its pre-2019 shows.

One creator made a TikTok stating, “Maybe I’m crazy but supermodels are SUPERMODELS for a reason. Victoria Secret Angels should have impossible bodies made + through lots of hard work, large blowouts, and big wings.”
Others applauded the show for taking on board the criticism from last year and embracing the glamour and inclusivity.
This may have been VS’s most diverse show yet, but it’s still far from perfect. With around 30 models walking down the catwalk, only a handful were plus-size or mid-size.
Additionally, featuring plus-size and mid-size models on the runway without stocking mid- and plus-sized lingerie on the VS website feels tokenistic.
However, at a time when the thinness culture is “coming back”, it is hopeful to see a brand taking a step in the right direction.
