Victoria Pendleton, who hopes to ride in the Foxhunters’ Chase at Cheltenham in March, will ride over fences in public for the first time at either Cottenham point-to-point near Cambridge or Black Forest Lodge, near Exeter, on Sunday.

Pendleton, a Gold medal-winning cyclist at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, will ride Alan Hill’s 12-year-old Minella Theatre, a useful hurdler and chaser for Nicky Henderson earlier in his career. A final decision on where Minella Theatre will run will depend on the going at the two venues.

Pendleton has ridden three times under Rules on the Flat, finishing second at Ripon in August. She was also unseated in the closing stages of an amateur jockeys’ event at Newbury last month.
