Victor Lindelof says it is vital Manchester United’s new signings are on board for the start of pre-season training next week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who finished in sixth place last term to miss out on the Champions League, return to pre-season training a week on Monday.
So far, only Daniel James, a £15milion capture from Swansea, has joined United, with Solskjaer liking to add at least another four players before the August 8 transfer deadline.
Lindelof, who will return with the rest of the squad on Monday, to begin preparations for the new campaign, said it is important the entire group is together from the start of pre-season.
“Pre-season is very important for the team,“ said Lindelof.
“New players come in and meet the group and I think it’s vital, especially this season, that we’re altogether in the beginning and work through things we want to do and the things we want to improve, so yeah I would say pre-season is very important.
“When I had just signed for the club, it was important for me to meet and bond with all the players and staff, see what what kind of personalities there are and see how the club worked. I really enjoyed it.”
Many of United’s players, including midfielder Scott McTominay, have posted on social media, videos of themselves training during the summer break, to ensure they hit the ground running when pre-season starts.
“We are professionals,“ said Lindelof. ”So even when we’re on holiday we still have to train and keep the fitness levels up.
“The most important thing in pre-season is to get minutes on the pitch, feel the rhythm of the game and work through the tactics, so that everyone knows exactly what we want to do.”
