Victims in Colorado mass shooting identified

Authorities have identified nine more victims who were killed in a mass shooting at a King Soopers in Boulder on Monday afternoon.

Police previously identified a Boulder Police Department officer, 51-year-old Eric Talley, who was killed in the shooting at 3600 Table Mesa Drive.

The victims were men and women between the ages of 20 and 65.

Besides officer Talley, the other victims were identified as:

Denny Strong, 20

Nevin Stanisic, 23

Rikki Olds, 25

Tralona Bartkowiak, 49

Teri Leiker, 51

Suzanne Fountain, 59

Kevin Mahoney, 61

Lynn Murray, 62

Jody Waters, 65

Boulder police Chief Herold said the last victim was taken from the scene at 1:30 a.m., and the victims’ families were notified by 2 a.m.

Police also identified 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa of Arvada as the suspect in the mass killing.

He has been charged with 10 counts of murder.

20th Judicial District DA Michael Dougherty said the arrest affidavit and warrant were completed about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, Dougherty said. He added he expects the suspect to arrive at the Boulder County jail later Tuesday.

The suspect was the only person who suffered serious, nonfatal injuries during the shootings, according to police.

Officials did not comment on a motive, but Herold said she does not believe the suspect was previously known to law enforcement.
