Vicky McClure drops hint Line of Duty series 6 could be the most dramatic yet

The Nottingham-born star of Line of Duty has dropped a hint to suggest that the new series of the cop corruption drama could be the most dramatic yet.

When Vicky McClure appeared on BBC Breakfast this week she was naturally quizzed about the upcoming sixth series of Line of Duty.

And while she could not reveal details about the plot she did suggest that the series would be more jam-packed with action and suspense than any previous season.

She also told hosts Dan Walker and Sally Nugent that the crew had worked hard to finish filming the show despite coronavirus restrictions.

She said: "We were really safe and props to every member of the crew and cast that we didn’t get shut down really.

"It’s in the can, I don’t know when it’s out but my God is it packed full of everything."

The series, which was filmed in Belfast, is expected to air on the BBC in early 2021.

While very little has been revealed about the storyline we do know that it will feature a new guest lead in the form of DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald).

McClure said she got on extremely well with everyone involved in the project.

She said: “We have a lot of fun and I have to say, in these times, it was difficult because I was away from home for three months solid which is the longest I’ve ever done.

“It’s like going from family to family, we’ve been working together now for near on 10 years, it was a lot of fun and we always try and make it a good place to work.

“We have a great cast, we’ve got some new great people in the show as well, like Kelly Macdonald and Perry Fitzpatrick, lots of very good people.”
