It's mid-March as I write this, and over in Vespa-land, spring has already sprung. How do I know? Because the Primavera (which does, after all, mean 'spring,') and the Sprint S updates for 2026 are out, and it's more than just a new color palette that Piaggio has on offer for Vespa fans.
Let's start with the biggest news: No more drum brakes on the rear! That's right; whether you go for a 50cc, 125cc, 150cc, or EV version of your favorite stylish scooter, you'll now have the full benefit of a 220mm steel brake disc with a two-piston caliper in the rear. The front wheel already had a disc brake, and ABS also comes standard, so stopping any of Vespa's 2026 scoots should now be that much better.
Other feature updates across the 2026 Vespa Primavera and Sprint S lineup include a full LCD dash. If you opt for the Vespa Primavera Tech, you'll get a full color, 5-inch TFT display and Vespa's MIA multimedia platform as standard. The multimedia platform, incidentally, is available as an option on other trim levels of the 2026 Vespa Primavera and Sprint S range.
Keyless operation is now also standard on 2026 Vespa Primavera and Sprint S models that are above 50cc, which means you'll get an electronic key fob instead of a normal key, if you're into that sort of thing. Just be very careful where you put it, because it's one thing you definitely don't want to leave in your pocket and accidentally put through the wash!

Last but certainly not least, the 2026 Vespa Primavera and Sprint S range gets some style refinements to greet the Year of the Horse. Redesigned 12-inch wheels with five split spokes now grace the entire range. There's a new five-slot grille detail on the left fairing of the Sprint S, and the Primavera gets a slightly refined mudguard.
There's great news for anyone who missed the handy bag hook found under the handlebars on some previous Vespas: It's back for 2026! Hook your grocery bags, tote bag, crossbody, or whatever other small bag strikes your fancy so it can go for a handy ride between your knees as you zip along.
Colors are, as ever, quite lovely to behold, and even more fun to say out loud. Choose from Bianco Innocente, Nero Convinto, Verde Amabile, Blu Energico, or Beige Avvolgente on the standard Vespa Primavera combustion-engine models. If you opt for the Primavera S instead, you'll get special dedicated styling upgrades, and your choice of the colors Bianco Innocente or Giallo Disinvolto. Finally, the Vespa Primavera Tech comes in your choice of Blu Energico Opaco or Grigio Ottimista Opaco.
If you'd rather have a Vespa Sprint S, your available color options are Bianco Innocente, Rosso Coraggioso, and Blu Eclettico on the combustion-engined versions. Go for an Elettrica, and you can choose from Nero Convinto Opaco or Verde Ribelle.
Pricing and availability will vary based on your geography, but all of these 2026 Vespas should be available in authorized Vespa dealerships at the time of writing. If you don't see what you're looking for, talk to your local Vespa dealer and ask them when you can expect the 2026 scoots to come in!
