Vernon Davis’s fake crying on ‘SportsCenter’ is turning into a meme

Vernon Davis hung up his cleats on Feb. 2 — yep, on the day of Super Bowl LIV when he was part of Rob Gronkowski’s “retirement crew” in a FOX segment, what a way to announce it! — and is now looking at some other work.

That includes acting, something he’s already done in Baywatch (the 2017 movie) and The League (the FX comedy series about fantasy football). So while appearing on SportsCenter and promoting his next flick, Red Winter, he was asked to go into character in front of the ESPN cameras. When put on the spot, he showed off his ability to fake cry, and wow, it’s time to give this man an OSCAR!

It’s quickly becoming a meme, of course:

That’s the third-best Davis performance I’ve seen. The first and second?
