Venezuelan LGBTQ Influencer La Divaza Abruptly Departs Telemundo's 'La Casa de los Famosos'

MIAMI - From the very outset, La Divaza appeared uneasy in 'La Casa de los Famosos 4'. As a celebrated Venezuelan LGBTQ figure and influencer, his emotions were conflicted.

Gaining entry into Telemundo's renowned reality show was significant for Pedro Figueira, known for using the she/he pronouns to describe himself/herself, wearing gender fluid and female attire, and makeup.

However, just weeks before his scheduled arrival at the house with 23 other celebrities, his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The worry about his mom's health added a new layer to the personal challenges contestants on LCDLF4 experience on the show.

In La Divaza's case, there was extra complexity. The competition, Big Brother style, requires a stay in La Casa for up to three months, with no or minimal contact with the outside world. It was hard to know what awaited her outside.

From Pedro to La Divaza

La Divaza's journey in the spotlight began with his YouTube channel, where he described life in Venezuela and introduced his alter ego, "La Divaza." His/her content, ranging from vlogs to serious social awareness topics, struck a chord with audiences both nationally and internationally.

The channel, which started in 2012, rapidly gained popularity for its unique blend of comedy, vlogs and gameplay, leading him to become a symbol of queer culture in Venezuela and then in Latino social media. Subscribers to the channel today are above the 10 million mark.

La Divaza became known internationally after entering the "Roast Yourself Challenge," which not only showcased his/her humor but also his/her musical talents. His/her music career took off with hits like "Cachete Al Suelo," and he became known for his dance and model prowess as well.

After moving to Mexico to expand his/her career, La Divaza became a symbol of the LGBTQ community among Latinos on social media, and his/her popularity grew to the point of receiving an invitation to participate in LCDLF4.

La Divaza conquered LCDLF4

La Divaza became part of the Tierra team from the first day, where he developed tight knit friendships with Lupillo Rivera, Gregorio Pernía, Thalí García, Ariadna Gutiérrez, and more. The influencer was also well respected and liked by the rest of the contestants, although he/she was once attacked with homophobic slurs by Puerto Rican celebrity Marypily Rivera.

La Divaza was also a fan favorite. With a vibrant personality and childlike qualities, he/she also showed a hilarious dark humor, incisive intelligence, and a knack for knowing audience preferences when nominating the contestants who risked elimination.

The influencer was also known for suffering bouts of depression during his life, which deepened during the show.

After 12 weeks and 14 celebrity eliminations, La Divaza decided to leave 'La Casa de los Famosos', marking another dramatic exit in the show's history. Thalí García had previously left without permission; Gregorio Pernía chose to exit, and Carlos Gómez 'El Cañón' was expelled. The announcement was made through X (previously Twitter), where La Jefa broke the news about this unexpected departure.

Why did La Divaza leave La Casa de los Famosos

In an interview with LCDLF host Jimena Gállego right after leaving the house, the Venezuelan influencer revealed what led him to make this drastic decision. "I really couldn't take it anymore, I had already spent three months in there, one more day... My head was exploding. I felt a lot of feelings and emotions. It is really tough what you go through inside the house," he said.

The exact reasons behind La Divaza's decision remain undisclosed, though speculations suggest it could be linked to his mother's health. During his farewell, La Divaza reflected on his experiences in the house, noting how he has emerged stronger and more renewed. The rest of the contestants, however, were left heartbroken.
