Vehicles towed without permission on Northwest Side: police

Chicago police are warning residents of two vehicle thefts reported in October and November in Irving Park and Avondale on the Northwest Side.

In each incident, victims’ vehicles were towed from the street without their permission, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The thefts happened about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the 3400 block of North Ridgeway Avenue and about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the 3900 block of North Drake Avenue, police said.

In the theft that happened on North Drake Avenue, the thief is described as being a male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt covering his face and driving a black tow truck with a circular decal on the passenger door, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
