Vehicles left running stolen on South Side: police

Chicago police are reminding people not to keep their vehicles running after a string of thefts were reported recently in neighborhoods on the South Side.

In each incident, someone hopped into a parked vehicle that had been left running and drove off, Chicago police said.

The thefts happened in Brighton Park, Back of the Yards, Gage Park and the South Loop, Chicago police said. They happened at all hours of the day between Dec. 3 and Dec. 25 in:

· The 3500 block of South Washtenaw Avenue;

· The 2100 block of South Archer Avenue;

· The 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue;

· The 4000 block of South Montgomery Avenue;

· The 5200 block of South Aberdeen Street;

· The 2100 block of South Archer Avenue;

· The 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue; and

· The 200 block of West Cermak Road.

Police did not provide a description of any suspects.
