Vehicle is engulfed in flames on the Airport Relief Road

This is the moment fire fighters tackled a vehicle engulfed in flames on the Airport Relief Road.

The fire service was called after a vehicle caught fire on the A555 between Bramhall and Handforth on Thursday night.

The crew spent about 80 minutes at the scene, which was captured on film by a driver travelling on the other carriageway.

The driver told the M.E.N. that the car was empty as he drove past, and a number of men who appeared to have got out of it were standing nearby.

He said: "It was all coming out of the engine, it seemed pretty serious, I've never seen a car on fire that much."

It is not thought that anyone was injured in the fire.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 9.45pm on 12 November, crews from Cheadle and Wythenshawe attended a vehicle fire on the A555 in Bramhall, Stockport.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire, and crews were on scene for approximately one hour and twenty minutes".
