For most people, smelling our neighbour's BBQ cooking from over the fence makes us green with envy. But not everybody enjoys the smell of meat cooking on an open flame - or the smoke that comes along with it.
That's exactly what one man was up against after his vegan neighbour ordered him to stop cooking meat on the BBQ because the smell is "disturbing" her. Taking to Reddit, he said: "I decided to try grilling, burgers mostly. My neighbour is vegan and I've known this for a long time.
"Two days ago, I made burgers for my family. After we ate, I started cleaning up the grilling stuff. My neighbour walked outside and said 'I have to stop grilling because the smell of meat is disturbing her'.

He went on to explain how each of them have "very big yards" - and he purposely doesn't grill near her fence in an attempt to control the smell and smoke.
He added: "It is my parents' yard and I grill for them as it is my job and hobby."
Confused, he has taken to Reddit to ask users whether he should stop or simply shrug off her complaint.
In response, one user said: "Vegan here. The smell of cooking meat isn't that great for me anymore, but I wouldn't dream of telling any of my neighbours not to live their life in their own home.
"It's super invasive of her to tell you what you can/cannot do on your own property."
Another user added: "Tell your neighbour she needs to stop speaking to you because the sound is disturbing to you."
A third user said: "Vegetarian chiming in here. Yes, at this point the smell of meat cooking is awful to me, but it's your house, your yard, your grill, your food, and your family.
"Unless you're throwing meat scraps into the neighbour's yard, they get no say. Grill on and enjoy!"
One more user added: "It's your yard, her veganism, along with anything else she wants, ends at the property line."
