On-loan Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas' valuation has reportedly been set, according to outlets in his homeland.
Greek publication Sportdog have speculated that the Hoops stopper, currently at Dutch side Utrecht, has been valued at £4.4million, thanks to an impressive season in the Eredivisie.
Barkas, signed from AEK Athens in 2020, was viewed as a long-term replacement for outgoing goalkeeper Fraser Forster between the sticks at the Glasgow club, after the Englishman returned to Southampton following his loan spell up north.
However, the Greek international failed to settle at Celtic, with high-profile blunders extinguishing any chance of a career revival in Scotland. New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was quick to address this problem, enlisting the services of former English internationalist Joe Hart to employ stability to the back-line.
The goalkeeper was swiftly loaned out to Utrecht in the early stages of last summer's transfer window, where he has enjoyed a career resurgence under boss Michael Silberbauer.
Barkas has made 51 appearances so far this season for the Eredivisie club in all competitions, accumulating nine clean sheets in those games, in an attempt to rekindle his form shown previously at AEK and internationally for Greece. He has managed to nail down the number one spot for Utrecht this season, after only featuring in two games in total for Celtic last season.
This return to form has also earned the keeper a recall to the Greek national team, with Gus Poyet naming him amongst the substitutes four times this season, albeit yet to make an appearance thus far.
The report also says that the Scottish club are keen to retain the majority of the outlay splashed on the 28-year-old, with his current side keen to make his move a permanent one at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Celtic will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in South Korea this July as part of their summer tour of Asia.
The game on July 26 will see Korean striker, Oh Hyeon Gyu, face his fellow countryman, Hwang Hee Chan, who plays for the English Premier League side, and who was one of South Korea’s heroes from the recent World Cup in Qatar.
Celtic and Wolves have played in a number of friendly matches over the years, the most recent coming back in July 2011 when a Celtic side which featured Korean defender Cha Du-Ri lost 2-0 at home to the English side.
