Vandalised bus shelter repaired in Lanarkshire town after help from councillor

Repair works have now been completed at a bus stop shelter in Motherwell.

Damage to the Craigneuk Street bus shelter at the pavement next to the A721 road resulted in the removal of two large glass panes and replacements were required.

The panes that were missing were at the side window under the small bus stop sign at the top of the shelter and the other was in the middle of the seated bench for customers.

This meant that locals had less protection against the weather while waiting on a bus.

Local Councillor, Nathan Wilson reported the matter to SPT and requested for replacement glass panes to be installed as soon as possible.

The replacement glass panes were then installed in the days after Councillor Wilson reported the issue.

The bus stop at the Motherwell section of Craigneuk Street is located across the road from the ARC Car Wash and the Vesuvius Drive residential development is also in close proximity to the shelter.

Conservative councillor Mr Wilson told Lanarkshire Live : “It is important that bus shelter infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards and that any required repairs are organised to take place in a prompt fashion.

“Not long after it was brought to my attention that the bus shelter at Craigneuk Street was missing two large glass panes, I pursued the issue of repairs and emphasised the need for remedial works to be arranged as soon as possible.

“A couple of days after I had reported the issue, I was delighted to see that the repairs had been carried out and with the two replacement glass panes successfully installed at the bus shelter.”
