Valve goes on longest Dota 2 blog post hiatus since TI1 as community awaits battle pass

Valve’s Dota 2 blog has entered its longest silence since the game’s early days, sparking growing chatter among fans as they anticipate news about the The International 2025 battle pass.

According to a detailed community post on Reddit, it’s now been over 66 days since Valve last published a blog update, marking the longest gap since the very first post after The International (TI) 2011. That stretch, which ended with the iconic “Welcome to the Dota 2 blog” post, had a 273-day gap. Since then, the blog has maintained a relatively consistent rhythm, until now.

The last update, Dota Springs Forward, came out more than two months ago. Before this, the longest silence was a 55-day gap in 2023 before the Frostivus event.

Dota 2 blog posts are important for players because they usually announce major game updates, events like Crownfall or Diretide, and most importantly, the highly anticipated battle pass that comes with The International. With TI14 getting closer, many expected a new post by now.

To make things more frustrating, Crownfall Act IV ended earlier this year, and there’s been no word on what comes next. Although Valve has released small game updates and patches, fans miss the usual blog posts that explain what’s happening or what’s coming soon.

On social media platforms, memes and theories have flourished about the upcoming updates. Several players believe the upcoming battle pass might be tied to an in-game event or a new Arcana release, given how long it’s taking to arrive. Others are drawing parallels to the drawn-out release schedule of TI10’s battle pass, which also followed a period of silence.

Despite the silence, Dota 2 is still getting updates behind the scenes. Sub-patches for update 7.39, balance changes, and new cosmetics have been added. But without a blog post to go with them, it feels like something is missing.

This long silence is strange for a game that usually keeps its fans in the loop. With The International 2025 right around the corner, players are hoping Valve breaks the silence soon and brings back the excitement that comes with a new battle pass. Valve’s next move could either reignite excitement or deepen concerns. Either way, the wait continues.
