TikTok may be the go-to platform for all things creative and innovative but those trying out the latest trend should be forewarned. A case in point is TikTok’s car date ideas featuring loved-up couples.
Experts at Dick Lovett, a UK car dealership, have examined some of these trending videos to advise users on how to avoid any fines or even a driving ban.
Movie night car dates
Taking the idea of movie nights out of the home became popular during lockdown, and being able to get out of the house for a romantic evening under the stars sounds like something straight from a romantic film.
But driving to an idyllic spot and setting up a tent could result in a hefty fine as wild camping is not permitted in most parts of England and Wales.
Camping without permission from the landowner falls under trespassing law and could mean you could be ushered off before the romance even begins.
Adding some alcoholic beverages alongside your random camping could land you in even more hot water as being over the limit and subsequently sleeping in your car could result in a fine of as much as £2,500 and a possible driving ban.
Recording yourself while driving
Live streaming or even just recording your driving antics is another trend to stay away from, warn experts.
Online videos of people filming themselves while driving have gained in popularity but if you are caught using your phone in any way while driving, you could get a £200 fine and six points on your licence.
And those who passed their driving test within the past two years could lose their licence.
