Uzbekistan's chances of booking a place in the knockout stage of the Women's Asian Cup remain alive following a 4-0 win over Bangladesh in the final fixture of Group B.

Both teams were looking to advance as one of the two best ranked third placed teams of the group stage, with Uzbekistan needing to win by at least four goals and Bangladesh needing at least five.

The result leaves Uzbekistan ranked second among the best third-placed teams just behind Vietnam, who have a better goal difference by two and are set to play Group C leader Japan on Tuesday.

On nine minutes, Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva broke the deadlock. Nilufar Kuratova took possession in the front third and slipped forward a delightful through ball.

Khabibullaeva raced onto the pass and took a touch before firing low and hard into the back of the net for Uzbekistan's first goal of the tournament.

Uzbekistan should have made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when Umida Zoirova burst down the left flank and drove a low cross across goal, but Khabibullaeva's side-foot effort was not on target.

The Uzbeks didn't have to wait long to be rewarded for their dominance, eventually adding a second on 63 minutes.

Lyudmila Karachik split the Bangladesh defence with a clever through ball to Zoirova, who drove down the left before squaring for substitute Dildora Nozimova to tap in.

Four minutes later, Nozimova made it 3-0 with her second, in almost identical fashion to her first.

Khabibullaeva turned provider, and supplied the cut back, this time from the right, gifting Nozimova with another easy finish.

The all-important fourth goal arrived in the 88th minute, thanks to a well taken chance by Nilufar Kudratova. A searching ball into the area found Zoirova, who nodded down for Kudratova, who controlled with her first touch before firing low and hard for her second.
