PITHORAGARH: Three people were killed and at least six others injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a gorge at Kuliyal village of Pati Block on Sukhidang Minar road in Champawat district on Monday. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
"The vehicle used to run daily to Haldwani via Chorgalia from Binwalgoan. On Monday afternoon, the vehicle started its journey from Binwalgoan with nine people," police said. At Kuliyal village, the vehicle fell into a 100 feet deep gorge, the police added. The three people who lost their lives were identified as Chandra Devi, a resident of Binwalgoan; Manorath, a resident of Goldanda; and Pan Singh, a resident of Parewa.
The six injured were Ranjeet Kumar, resident of Bahedi (Uttar Pradesh); Dal Chand Bahedi (Uttar Pradesh); Gori Thyal, resident of Nainital; Parwat Devi (Nainital); Bhuwan Chandra Sanwal (Nainital); and Bhuwan Chandra Gola, a resident of Goldanda (Pati).
