MUZAFFARNAGAR: Five persons, including a pregnant woman and her husband, died after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycles on the Panipat-Khatima highway near Jagahedi in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday.
The victims were travelling on two bikes and were on their way to Muzaffarnagar when the accident took place, police said.
Those dead have been identified as Vineet Kumar (25), his wife Meenu (22), residents of Titawi village; Nitin Kumar (23) and Vicky (24) of Nagla Nunakhera village, and Sachin (22).
According to station house officer (SHO) of Titawi police station, Mukesh Kumar Solanki, police have seized the truck and arrested the driver, who confessed that "he lost control of the vehicle while attempting to save a roadways bus on the highway".
