LUCKNOW: A high alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh in wake of the Udaipur killing. The government has also banned any protest or procession against the incident in the state.
No protest or procession, whether religious or political, can be taken out without the permission of the local police station, said ADG, law and order, Prashant Kumar.
DGP DS Chauhan said security has been stepped up across the state and action would be taken against anyone making provocative remarks.
Prashant Kumar said police are keeping vigil on social media posts from the headquarters as well as the district level. “We are in touch with central and state agencies for sharing intelligence inputs and threats and key details are being exchanged,” he added.
UP Police have also opened dialogue with religious leaders to maintain social amity. UP 112 response vehicles are conducting patrolling in sensitive areas while local intelligence units have been told to update police stations about trouble makers.
District police chiefs have appealed to citizens neither to post any comment on social media nor share any video related to the Udaipur killing.
