Exam cheating gang busted by UP STF

Lucknow: UP STF has exposed the gang involved in facilitating  cheating in competitive exams. The STF on Monday arrested 13 people including gang members, paper solvers and candidates.

The gang members charged a hefty amount from the candidates for leaking the exam paper, arranging dummy candidates and/or facilitating cheating by other means in the Combined Gram Panchayat Officer and Village Development Officer and Social Welfare Supervisor (General Selection) competitive examination held on Monday.

The re-examination of Gram Panchayat Officer and Village Development Officer and Social Welfare Supervisor (General Selection) competitive examination-2018 was held at 737 centers in 20 districts of the state in four shifts on June 26. Various teams and units of STF were directed to conduct this examination in a fair and transparent manner. 

During their supervision, STF team got the information about various gangs facilitating cheating in the examination. Consequently, the STF teams from STF Headquarters, Lucknow and STF Field Unit, Kanpur were formed and the kingpin of the cheating gang, paper solvers and dummy candidates were arrested  from different places in the state. One of the gang members had a blue tooth inside the ear which was taken out after much effort.

Details of arrested accused

1. Rahul Yadav Police Station Mehnagar, Azamgarh. Rahul Yadav told during interrogation that he has been preparing for UPSC by staying in Allahabad for about 12-13 years.
2. Kamlesh Kumar Yadav, Police Station Jahanaganj, District Azamgarh. Kamlesh Yadav told that he is posted in Jaunpur as Lekhpal. He had provided blue tooth device to the solver in the exam.
3. Manoj Yadav Thana Rani Ki Sarai, District Azamgarh (Examinee).
4. Kamlesh Yadav Police Station Mehnagar, District Azamgarh (paper solver).
5. Nazim s/o Tahir r/o Sunder Nagar, PS Thakurdwara, District Moradabad. (kingpin).
6. Neeraj Kumar s/o Umesh Prasad, r/o Village & Post Amaya, PS Bind, District Naland, Bihar (paper solver).
7. Sandeep Kumar, Police Station Neemchau, District Gaya, Bihar (paper solver).
8. Jabir Ali s/o Hunnu n/o Bhimather, PS Civil Line, Moradabad. (examinee).
9 Mohnis, Resident Thana Thakuddwara, District Moradabad. (assistant to the kingpin).
10. Kuldeep, resident of Kashipur, Uttarakhand (Driver).
11. Mukesh Kumar, Resident Police Station Bhagatpur, District Moradabad. (examinee/mediator)
12. Ritesh Tripathi, Resident Police Station Aliganj, District Ambedkar Nagar.
13. Dipanshu Verma, resident of village Buddhital police station Jalalpur, district Ambedkar Nagar. Dipanshu had come to take the exam.

All the accused were arrested from different places including Examination Centers LVM Inter College Azamgarh, Saraswati Ballia Inter College, Police Station Ghazipur, Commissionerate Lucknow, Police Station Hafizganj, District Bareilly. 

A case has been registered against all the accused. Full investigation is underway.
