Uttar Pradesh: Five members of BKU faction held in Muzaffarnagar

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Five members of BKU-Bhanu, a faction of BKU-Tikait, were arrested and sent to jail after nearly a dozen of them allegedly entered a police station in Purkazi and created a ruckus, while trying to put pressure on the cops to quash a case.

They came in three vehicles with loud sirens, police said. Those booked included Balram Thakur, the district president of Bhanu faction, SP (city), Arpit Vijayvargiya said on Saturday, adding that five of them were booked under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force) and 186 (obstructing public servant). Besides Thakur, those arrested were Aslam Shaikh, Shamshad Ahmed, Arun Kumar and Istekahr Khan.

Police said that during questioning, it came to light that these five men already had many cases registered against them in the past.
