PRAYAGRAJ: A delegation of local BJP leaders met Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday and handed him a memorandum against the proposal of a floating restaurant in the Yamuna at the boat club.
Senior BJP corporator Dilip Kiran Jaiswal said the floating restaurant would amount to an insult to our pious rivers. “The proposal of starting a floating restaurant will hurt the religious sentiments of the millions of devotees who arrive at Sangam to take a holy dip. The proposal of a floating restaurant from Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) will not be accepted,” she said.
“The religious sentiments of devotees who come to the holy Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, from across the nation will be hurt when they will see its commercialization and people enjoying on the floating restaurant,” Jaiswal said. BJP leaders said that PDA officials must realize that the Yogi-led BJP government cares for religious sentiments of people and is making efforts for reviving the lost dignity of Sanatan dharma. They also raised the issue of illegal parking fee charges outside Mankameshwar temple. Some unwanted elements are involved in charging parking fees from devotees at the famous city temple, they alleged.
Thousands of devotees and pilgrims visit the Mankameshwar temple every day.
