Usain Bolt parties on the Gold Coast with nightclub DJ set

The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, has not wasted any time adjusting to a Gold Coast lifestyle.

The retired Jamaican sprint star touched down on Queensland's glitter strip on Wednesday morning, and spent his first night in town partying at a Surfers Paradise nightclub.

He was spotted at Sin City about 1:00am on Thursday, taking over the DJ booth to the delight of the dancefloor.

Bolt is on the Gold Coast as part of his role as a Commonwealth Games ambassador.

Upon touching down in Brisbane, he said he hoped to experience the best the coast had to offer outside of the sporting arena.

"People have told me it's a nice place — beaches are here, so we'll see if I get to go to the beaches," Bolt said.

"It's the first time I'm actually going to be at a championship and not be competing, so I'm excited just to watch and to cheer on and to get a chance just to see from a different angle."

Bolt is expected to front the media later today at several press events.

He said he would enjoy sitting in the stands for the athletics and the netball to cheer on the Jamaican athletes.

"I'm definitely going to try to get to the netball — my girls always do extremely well so I'm going to definitely try to go see them," he said.

"For me, I take every championship seriously — I always try to compete at my best and to go and just to do the best for my country.

"I'm excited to be here and see my country compete at a higher level.

"There's no doubt that top athletes always come to the Commonwealth [Games] — it's just another championship.

"We come out here to do our best and to try to win gold as always."
