USA Today NFL Power Rankings: Jets crack top-20 entering Week 1

With a new season days away, USA Today has released its first set of power rankings following the preseason.

The Jets come in at No. 19 in the power rankings as their Week 1 opener nears. The Jets will host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and are the presumed favorites in that game at MetLife Stadium.

New York has a much improved team from last season, but it isn’t a complete roster. They have no depth at cornerback and the starting offensive line has yet to play altogether in a game yet. Meanwhile, the Jets still don’t know if they have a keeper at kicker.

USA Today has taken notice of the improvements made by the team, but they still have plenty of concerns with the season essentially here.

“The starting offense looks great,” USAT’s power rankings state. “However kicking game is a complete mess for a team unlikely to have much margin for error.”

You could say that again.

As for the rest of the AFC East, the Patriots are ranked first, while the Bills are 21st.  As for the Dolphins, no one in the NFL placed lower than them. Miami finishes]d last on the list at 32nd.
