USA Swimming on Friday called for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to advocate for a one-year postponement of the upcoming Tokyo Games amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has prompted the cancellation or postponement of major sporting events across the globe.
"The right and responsible thing to do is to prioritize everyone's health and safety and appropriately recognise the toll this global pandemic is taking on athletic preparations," USA Swimming CEO Tim Hinchey said in the letter.
